

Bette Venderly Link Hale 96, passed away Monday August 9, 2021 at her home in LaOtto, IN. She was born in Fort Wayne, IN., January 12, 1925. In her early years, she was a student at Bloomingdale School, Franklin School and a National Honor Society and graduated from North Side High School in 1943. Bette was socially active in many organizations. Her memberships included, Jane Addams Society, Reveliers, a charter member and 2nd Chairman of the Old Fort Settlers and past President of the FOP Auxiliary. Bette was active with establishing the Three Rivers Festival and originated the fireworks display, being shot from the top of the Old Randall Hotel on the Landing. She was an avid old fashion doll collector and became the Co- Founder and First President of the Fort Wayne Hobby and Collectors Guild. She was a avid collector of antiques, including over 100 bisque China and paper –mache dolls, many fine pieces of China and antique clothing. Bette was known for her charming style shows of her clothing. She retired from the night office at Peter Eckrich after 31 years of service. In 1985 Bette and her second husband Bernard, moved to Venice, Fla. She was employed at Peterson Homes, showing model homes for over 11 years. While in in Fla. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and its Alter Guild. After the passing of her husband, Bernard, she moved back to Fort Wayne area to be near family.
Bette is survived by her granddaughter Tiffany Johnson and a great granddaughter Chontel Johnson. She was preceded in death by her first husband Bill Link, second husband Bernard Hale and a daughter Carolyn Johnson.
