BETTY (BOISTY) J. BATES, 68, of Hoagland, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Visting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, after battling cancer. She was employed at Kroger, Decatur, IN, for 18 years.
She is survived by daughters, Tina (Matt) Thompson and Jenny Cenko; brothers, Robert, John (Nancy) and Gerald Harmeyer; sisters, Valarie Brown and Jill (Russ) Lee; and four grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jessica Cenko, Megan and Lauren Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bates; parents, Val and Betty Harmeyer; sister, Kathleen Harmeyer; and brothers, Joseph and Kenneth Harmeyer. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells Street. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
