BETTY LUCILLE DUNTEN, 93, died Monday, October 21, 2024, at Park Place Assisted Living, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Treva and Harry Fritz of Huntertown, Indiana. She graduated from Huntertown High School in 1949.
She was a Special Education bus driver for Fort Wayne Community Schools and JJR. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church-Lake Township. She was co-founder of the Allen County Deaf Children’s Association, along with her late husband, George. She remained very active in the deaf community. She enjoyed gardening as she was a Master Gardener. She loved to cook for her family, especially up at the family lake cottage on Lake Pleasant. She volunteered at Cross Borders Partners, Inc.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianna (Robert) Farmer of Fort Wayne; sons, Daniel (Sally) Dunten of Lafayette, Dale (Sharon) of Columbus, Georgia, Doug (Mridula) of Mishawaka, Duane (Robin) of Fort Wayne, and Donald (Sara) of Churubusco; and foster child, Frank (Barbara) Nesbitt of Fort Wayne. She is survived by her brother Kenny Fritz of Fort Wayne. She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Survived by grandchildren, Brian (Kayleigh) Farmer of Fort Wayne, Joshua Farmer of Fort Wayne, Jennifer (Matthew) Tebbe of Ciero, Alissa (Joseph) Mallory of Danville, Lindsay (David) Bischoff of Crestview, Florida, Michael (Allison) Dunten of Indianapolis, Amy (Cory) Sell of Phoenix, Arizona, Kara (Drew) Fredrickson of Phoenix, Arizona, Joel (Alyssa) Dunten of San Diego, California, Charles Dunten, Tiffany Dunten (Matt Chao), Eric Dunten (Emilie McGuire), Amber Dunten, and Miranda Dunten.
Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Lake Township, 7914 W. Cook Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Douglas Schoelles officiating. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Friday, October 25, 2024, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery.
