Obituary of Betty Rose "Eisy" Eisenacher
Betty "Eisy" Eisenacher, 98, of Fort Wayne passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018, at North Woods Village. She was a lifelong Fort Wayne resident and devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Betty was a graduate of South Side High School where she was voted best athlete. She attended so many Southside games that her bleacher seat was dedicated to her, and she was given a Lifetime Sports Pass. Betty loved University of Michigan Football and could always be prompted to sing the fight song. She was a renowned pitcher for the Bob Inn softball team for six seasons leading them to several State Championships. She also played and coached basketball for General Electric where she worked for 41 years retiring in 1980. Betty attended 71 consecutive Indianapolis 500 races and was featured with Steve Hartman on the CBS Evening News when at 89 years old she was treated to a ride in an Indy car driven by Scott Hamilton. Betty was known for her strong Christian faith, athleticism, loyalty, frugality, and sense of humor. For those things and many more she will be dearly missed. She was preceeded in death by her parents William and Gertrude (Harries) Eisenacher, her brother Alfred Eisenacher, a niece Carol Brouwer, her favorite cousin Norma Carroll and many Boston Terriers. Betty is survived by her nephews, Donald (Nancy) Eisenacher, David Eisenacher, her grand nieces Holly (Sean) Leach, Lori (John) Motz, grand nephews Brent (Shireen) Rice, Matt (Erica) Eisenacher. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 11:00 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church (202 W Rudisill Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46807) with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Monday, July 9, 2018, at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton Funeral Home (6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46819) from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial will follow at Concordia Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, ASPCA, or Alzheimer’s Association.
