Bonnie Lou Griffith

Bonnie Lou (Schenher) Arney Griffith, 87, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away August 18, 2026. She was born on February 3, 1939, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of the late Pete and Lucille Schenher, and was the eldest of three children.

Bonnie married her high school sweetheart, Tim Arney, and together they shared 44 years of marriage until his passing in 1999. In 2008, Bonnie married David Griffith, and they shared 18 years of marriage together, enjoying traveling and tending to their beautiful yard.

She graduated from North Side High School in 1957, and she and Tim went on to help organize many of their high school class reunions over the years.

Bonnie and Tim raised their family, spending weekends at the lake home where they fished, soaked up the sun, and boated as often as they could. That home remains a treasured gathering place for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to this day.

She worked at IPFW and St. Francis College before retiring from Navistar after a full career. She often said retirement was one of her favorite things, and she made the most of it — playing golf courses across Fort Wayne.

But more than anything, Bonnie was a mom and a grandmother — and she was exceptionally good at both. She was always the first one there, ready to help with the grandkids, and she had a gift for getting right down on the floor with a book or a toy and a grandchild, no matter her age. It made her everyone's favorite. Grandma Bonnie's house was the best place to be — a basement full of toys from her own kids' childhoods, a pool table, and the famous pinball machine that every grandchild remembers. She was also a gifted cook who always had a meal ready for whoever walked through the door, and her home was a constant gathering place for family.

She was a devoted Christian and an active member of Fort Wayne Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, David Griffith, of Fort Wayne, IN; her children, Sherry (Tim) Myers of Fort Wayne, IN, Doug (Janna) Arney of Georgetown, TX, and Chris (Robbi) Roberts of Fort Wayne, IN; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by David's children, Erin (Mark) Kaufmann and Doug Griffith, both of Fort Wayne, IN.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tim Arney; her sister, Kathy Neuhaus; and her brother, David Schenher.

Funeral service will be at 5:00 pm on Friday, August 28, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation starting at 2:00 pm until the time of service. Private burial at Huntertown Cemetery.
