Brian Jay Welles

Brian Jay Welles, 65, passed away at home on June 10, 2021.
He was born in Indianapolis, IN on April 6, 1956, the son of the late John S. Welles and Frances C. Welles, who survives.
Brian was a Boy Scout as a child and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
He graduated from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis in 1974. Brian then obtained a bachelor's degree in Forestry from Purdue University in 1978. He began working at Indiana Michigan Power in May of 1978 where he retired from in June of 2010. In his retirement he continued working at O.R. Colan as a right of way agent until December of 2019.
In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling to new places. He was also an avid reader, especially of History. Brian was a long time Colts fan, even in their off years.
He was a member of St. Joseph United Methodist church since 1988. Brian enjoyed being outdoors, camping, hiking, and had a love for the State and National Parks. He had a great love for his family and spending time with his grandchild, when possible.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sheree Welles; mother, Frances Welles; children, Eric Welles, Adam (Sarah) Welles, Alyssa (William) Weaver, Emily (Taylor) Demeter; granddaughter, Rosalie Weaver; siblings, Gordon (Nan) Welles, Carol (Michael) Glotfelter and Larry (Steffany) Welles.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Welles.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at St. Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46835 with memorial calling one hour prior.
