Bruce Wayne Everson, known fondly as “Batman,” passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 65. He was born November 5, 1959, in Fort Wayne to the late Kimsey and Gaynetta (née Overmyer) Everson. A 1978 graduate of Paul Harding High School in Fort Wayne, Bruce worked for several local businesses before founding On The Go Portable Water in 2004, then retired in 2014. Bruce married Michelle Heffelfinger on September 8, 2001, at Foster Park.
Bruce had a love for baking, gardening, fishing, and was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed trips to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Mackinac Island.
Bruce is survived by his children, Sankey (Lindsay) Everson, Trey (Alex) Langford, Colby Spencer, and Alyse (Nathan) Engquist; grandchildren, Kennedy, Archer Everson; Grace, Isabelle, Gabby Engquist; Furbaby, Sadie; siblings, Steve (Ellen) Everson, Lori (Jeff) Dunham, Scott (Christie) Everson, Amy (Dave) Doenges, Ron Strahm, Richard (Bonnie) Heffelfinger, Jill (Kevin) Kacer, and Tammy Heffelfinger; and numerous nieces and nephews and countless lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by siblings, Kimberly Strahm, and Marc Heffelfinger; and beloved furbabies, Boomer and Midnight.
Funeral service is 11:00 am, Monday, June 30, 2025 at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Friends and family will also be received 2:00 - 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the funeral home.
