

Carl W Linder, 98, of Fort Wayne, passed away on May 31, 2021 at Saint Anne Home & Retirement Community Center in Fort Wayne. Born on September 28, 1922, in Monroeville, he was a son of the late William C and Pernetta (nee Smith) Linder and was a 1940 graduate of Monroeville High School and lifelong resident of Allen County, Indiana. Carl was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, and proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII, logging 840 hours as a fighter pilot. After the war, Carl married Evelyn A. Martin on September 8, 1945 and was employed at International Harvester, moving up the ranks to become Chief Engineer of Engines at both the Fort Wayne and Melrose Park, Illinois plants before retiring in 1981 after 40 years of service. After his retirement, Carl served as a sales engineer for AJ Rose Manufacturing Co. of Cleveland, Ohio for six years thereafter. Carl was also an active volunteer for several organizations with stints as president for H.E.R.O. Club at Navistar, American Legion Post #82, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Three Rivers Ultimate Club, and Parkview Seniors Club.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy (Sandra) Linder, of Genoa, IL; Thomas (Susan) Linder of Brownsburg; Joseph (Dawn) Linder of Glendale Heights, IL; nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-grandchildren. Carl was also preceded in death by his wife of over 64 years, Evelyn, in 2010; and four siblings.
Mass of Christian Burial is 1:00pm, Monday, June 7, 2021 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1500 W State Blvd, Fort Wayne. Fr. Zak Barry officiating. Calling will be held from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, Sunday, June 6, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, with a Vigil Service at 2:30pm. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to Queen of Angels Catholic Church, or the National Captioning Institute.
