Carl "Butch" H. Messerschmidt Jr., 84, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Born on October 15, 1936 in Fort Wayne. He was a son of the late Carl and Edna (Franke) Messerschmidt Sr. Carl was a graduate of Northside high school and received an Associates degree from Indiana International Business College. He served in the United States Army Reserves and was a member of American Legion Post 731. Carl was also a member at St. John's Lutheran Church for 60+ years and served as treasurer for 25 years. He also participated at South Gate Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Institute of Management Accountants. Carl was a passionate collector with the international Coca Cola Collectors Society and he enjoyed bowling. Carl is survived by his wife, Lois (Ruby) Messerschmidt; children, Steve (Valarie) Messerschmidt, Cheryl (Todd) Leeth, Trisha Miller, and Cindy Messerschmidt; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Klaehn, Fahl, & Melton Funeral Home 6424 Winchester Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 2-4pm & 6-8pm on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Worship Anew.
