Carletta Joy (Nester) Harrison

Carletta Joy (Nester) Harrison, 82, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born December 21, 1941, in Connersville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Othor Forest "Joe" and Mary Emma (Spence) Nester of Kokomo, Indiana. After three plus years of dating, she married Ralph E. Harrison on May 4, 1968. Carletta graduated from Kokomo High School in 1960. She worked for the United States Postal Service before retiring early to raise her children and become a homemaker. As we honor her memory, we fondly remember her as a devoted wife, a loving and caring mother, and granny, as well as a cherished daughter and sister. Carletta treasured her time with family, and she adored family gatherings for any occasion. In addition to a boundless love for her family, Carletta loved her flowers, birds and butterflies. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, tinkering on appliances and power tools, and she was an excellent crafter, from sewing, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, furniture upholstery, wood working, oil painting and the list goes on. The Lord blessed her with so many gifts and there wasn’t anything she couldn’t accomplish with her artistic and mechanically inclined hands. Surviving to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 56 years, Ralph; her beloved son, Dwayne Harrison of Fort Wayne; her beloved daughter, Patricia (Robert) Hart of St. Louis, Missouri; her cherished granddaughter, Bailey Clawson and great-grandsons, Reed and Canon Clawson of St. Louis; her sister, Wilma Reams of Russiaville Indiana; her brother-in-laws, James (Norma) Harrison of Daytona Beach, Florida and Wilferd (Sharon) Harrison of Akron, Indiana; her sister-in-laws, Bobbie Harrison of Logansport, Indiana, JoAnn Miller of Tucson, Arizona, and Nola (Doug Wells) Harness of Lebanon, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Lewis "Louie" and Jonetta Nester; her sister, Dorothy Howard; her sister-in-law, Mary (Mick) Hallam; and her brother-in-laws, Nelson Reams, Rick Harness, David Miller, and William "Bill" Harrison. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the CVIC West and Telemetry B teams at Lutheran Hospital and Heart to Heart Hospice for their outstanding care and compassion. Funeral services celebrating Carletta's life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.
