Carol Jane Duly

Carol’s life was marked by steady devotion—to faith, to family, and to the quiet work of caring for others. Raised in a postal service family and later marrying into one as well, she carried forward a deep respect for duty and community. In her earlier years, she taught Sunday school as a disciple of Christ in the Disciples of Christ Church that was downtown, and later converted to the Catholic faith. She was also a Girl Scout and graduated from Southside High School in Fort Wayne.

A woman of generous spirit and tender strength, Carol was known for putting others before herself. She was a loving and devoted mother and wife, and her warmth was felt most vividly in the traditions she kept—especially at the holidays. Every Thanksgiving, she would be up early to get the festivities started, and she was a gracious hostess at every holiday gathering. Her love of music was another enduring joy, one that reflected the gentle steadiness with which she moved through life.

She is survived by her children, William Russell Duly Jr. and James Mitchell Duly (Anurani); and two granddaughters, Anoori and Olivia Duly.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, William Russell Duly Sr.; and her siblings, Maurice "Duke" Ransbottom, Edwin Gross, and Connie Gross Boatwright.

Memorial contributions can be made to Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, in honor of Carol.

Christian Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026, 11;00 a.m., at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, located at 1500 West State Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46808, with Christian Mass Burial to follow at Lindenwood Cemetery. The family would like to welcome friends and family for an hour calling, at C.M.. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to funeral mass. Calling and visitation hours will also be held on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, at the funeral home, 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A meal will be provided at the church community center after the burial.
