Carol Sue Gregory, 82, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away on May 15, 2026. Born October 7, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Carol was the daughter of the late John and Pauline (née Belschner) Lewis. She grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from South Side High School.
Throughout her life, Carol met each season with steady resilience, a devoted spirit, and a kind heart that made others feel seen and cared for. She was hard-working in all she undertook, and her warmth was often accompanied by a gentle humor—an easy levity that brought comfort and connection to those around her.
Carol worked at General Electric, Hower Tool in Ossian, IN, and the Allen County Fairgrounds. In every role, she was known for her reliability and the quiet pride she took in doing things well.
In retirement, Carol found joy in the moments that mattered most to her. She loved scrapbooking, treasured time at the lake, and delighted in being with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, where her quick wit and steady presence were equally appreciated.
Carol also gave of herself to others through her work as a fundraiser with several hospice groups, offering time and effort in support of compassionate care—an extension of the thoughtful devotion that marked her life.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Caralee (Brian) Wirges; son, Craig (Katia) Gregory; grandchildren; Grant Gregory; Adam Wirges, Lia Wirges, Kira Wirges, Zac Wirges; Sophia Gregory and Camila Gregory; three nieces, Kathy (Bruce) Rietdorf, Karen Dilling and Cindy Lewis; and nephew, Cody (Diane) Lewis; as a sister-in-law, Sandy Rebman. She is also survived by special friends since school days, Emily and Bill Heathman.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Clyde "Greg" E. Gregory; siblings, Beverly (Donald "Max") Dilling, John Lewis.
Carol will be deeply cherished and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
