Carol Ann Hershberger

Carol Ann Hershberger went home to be with Jesus on August 30, 2024. She was born on December 28, 1948, to Otho Carroll Hershberger and Charlotte A. Smith; both of her parents preceded her in death and the love of her life, Darleane Heare and her puppy Dakota.

She is survived by five sisters, Claudia (Denny) Beck, Mary McOmber, Joey (Mike) Bak, Diane Suever and Debbie Hershberger; and several nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her two brothers-in-law, Mick McOmber and Art Suever; and 2 nephews-in-law, John Sherman and infant Elliott Rasche.

Carol was in the Marines and was appointed Lance Corporal on March 1, 1968. She was honorably discharged in 1969. Carol worked at G.E, Guardian, Photo and Supermarket Services. Carol was known by many for the breathtaking poetry she wrote for anyone or a situation she thought of. She was an avid bowler, loved watching golf, and growing beautiful flowers.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes - Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 pm, Pastor Scott Ailes officiating. Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery with military honors presented by the Hamilton Post 467 color guard.
