Carol Anne Weide

Born May 17, 1955, in New York, NY, Carol was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Martha M. (Herbst) Eiwen of Scarsdale, NY. Carol met the love of her life, James (Jim) Weide on December 1, 1973 at Valparaiso University. They were married on June 19, 1976, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Scarsdale, NY, and shared more than 50 wonderful years together.

Carol was the loving and caring mother to Sarah (Joe) Rumschlag of Hilliard, OH, Rachel (Jeff) Kondraschow of Wheaton, IL, Hannah (Steve) Kempeinen of Pinckney, MI, and Jacob (Madison) Weide of Westfield, IN. While she and Jim’s early married years were spent in Homewood, IL and Windsor, CT, she spent the majority of her married years in Fort Wayne, IN. Over the course of the years, Carol invested herself wholeheartedly in her family, church, and community. She served in many capacities at St. Michael Lutheran Church, volunteered in her children's schools, and became an accomplished competitive race walker.

In recent years, nothing brought Carol greater happiness than spending time with her twenty-two grandchildren. Whether reading stories, playing games, celebrating birthdays, watching them compete in sports, or simply sharing everyday moments, she treasured every opportunity to be with them. She also cherished the special relationship she shared with her dear sister, Nancy, and the countless hours they spent talking together on the phone. Having grown up near the ocean, the beach was her happy place, and she loved nothing more than feeling the sand between her toes.

Whether helping others or cheering on her children and grandchildren, Carol brought energy, kindness, and enthusiasm to everything she did. For more than 30 years, she faced breast cancer with extraordinary resilience and grace, refusing to let it define the life she so fully lived. Instead, she became a source of encouragement to countless others through her prayers and support. Carol will be remembered for her steadfast faith in Jesus, unwavering optimism, generous heart, and remarkable perseverance. Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in the promise that she is now completely healed in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty.

She is survived by her husband Jim, sister Nancy (Herman) Wahlers, brother Richard (Lore) Eiwen, daughters, son, and twenty-two grandchildren; Abby, David, Jeremiah, Joshua, Bethany, Henry, Caleb, Felicity, and Daniel Rumschlag; Hudson, Katarina, Seth, and Wyatt Kondraschow; Ryan, Molly, Thomas, Andrew, Ethan, and Haley Kempeinen; Finn, Cal, and Mack Weide.

She was preceded in death by her brother John (Pat) Eiwen and grandsons Asher Kondraschow and Benson Weide.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday, August 31, 2026, at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 2131 Getz Road, Fort Wayne, IN with a visitation 2 hours prior. Visitation also from 5:00-8:00 pm Sunday, August 30, 2026, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home Covington Knolls Funeral Home 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne IN. Committal and burial at Concordia Cemetery Gardens in Fort Wayne.
