Caroline Maurice (Staight) Ryman, 87, of Fort Wayne passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in Fort Wayne to beloved parents, Archie Paul and Elvah Staight, Caroline was the youngest of four children and enjoyed a childhood filled with adventure, love, and laughter with her parents and siblings: Bob, Doug, and Marty.
She was an alumna of Northside High School and graduated with her LPN in 1969 and retired in 2001 after a long career dedicated to healthcare.
While working as an LPN and raising her 3 children who were her pride and joy, Caroline met the love of her life, Terry Ryman (Syracuse, IN). They celebrated 56 years of marriage. Over the years, Caroline and Terry lived in some of the most beautiful places in the country: Florida, Alaska, Nevada, and Colorado. In those stunning landscapes, Caroline discovered running at the age of 39 and completed numerous long-distance runs and hikes, including summiting Pikes Peak in Colorado 3 times in competition in her 70s. In recent years, Caroline and Terry returned to Fort Wayne and enjoyed being closer to family and loved ones.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Ryman (US Army, retired); sons, Scott (Rachel) Lamb (Michigan) and Joseph (Debra) Lamb (South Carolina); daughter, Lisa (Christopher) Braun (Pennsylvania); eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Paul and Elvah Staight; brothers, Robert and Douglas; sister, Marty Cade; and grandson, Caleb Lamb.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday September 18, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne IN, with visitation one hour prior.
