Carolyn Richardson, 83, passed away peacefully in her New Haven home, surrounded by her family on New Years’ Day, 2019. Carolyn was proudly a woman of God who led quite a life. She met Arthur Richardson at a picnic, married within a year, and were together for 43 years before he passed away. One night when they were out for dinner, Carolyn sang along with the piano player, who thought she was pretty good and offered her a job! She debuted at the Rose Marie Hotel and also sang at the Keenan Hotel before she and Art decided that a couple being in two different bands did not make for much time together. Art decided to put his own band back together and Art and Carolyn then became a duo in more than just their marriage, as they were part of the Rich Tones for 20 years. Among all this, they raised five children, some his, some hers, and some together, but all “theirs.” Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur Richardson, her parents, and all four of her siblings. She is survived by her sons, Robert Bruns, Arthur Richardson Jr., Christopher (Diane) Richardson; step-son, Kurt (Sandy) Richardson; her grandchildren, Aaliyah Richardson, Mattei Richardson, Douglas Welty, and Daniel Welty, Kyle Richardson, and Kelly Richardson; as well as her 4 great grandbabies. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, January 7, 2019 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 729 W. Washington Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46802. Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm also at the church on Monday. Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church or The Rescue Mission.
