Carolyn Shoemaker has passed to join our Father in Heaven on Saturday, August 9, 2025. She was “the neighborhood Mom.” She organized 'clubs' for teens and pre-teens in our garage every week. She was so much fun! We have great memories of her packing up the car with treats AND the neighbor kids and taking all of us to the drive-in theater. She would organize Ping Pong championships, and she would even organize “Backyard Fairs”to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. Carolyn loved to play all kinds of games when we were growing up. We lovingly remember all of the mashed potato fights in the dining room, and cake batter that never reached the oven. As we grew away from home, we would still make a point to get together and all play games for “Family Fun Night” every Monday at her apartment. One of her special favorites during her last years was playing Poker with her sisters, Pat and Marge. Although she only stood at 4'7” … She was the Rock of our family. She was the glue that held us all together. She was the strength that molded us into who we are today. She is survived by her children, Robert (Waneta) Shoemaker, Cindy (Don) Pilkinton, Pamela (Tina Davis) Shoemaker, and Tammy (William) Corn. Carolyn was blessed with three grandchildren, Angie Pilkinton, Jeffrey Shoemaker, and Crystal Ochoa; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by three siblings, Patricia Stetler, Marge Dressler, and David (Barbara) Scheefel. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11:00 am at Lindenwood Cemetery, 2324 West Main Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46808. “We love you Mom and thank you for a lifetime of joyous memories.” Please visit www.sloanandsonsfuneralhome.com to leave condolences.
