Catherine Patricia Wolfe

Catherine P. Wolfe (Wells), known by most as Katie, passed away just before 1:00 a.m. on August 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones who meant so much to her.

Katie’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her 14-year-old son, Evan Wolfe, who was the center of her world. Everything Katie did was rooted in her love for Evan and her desire to give him a good life. Her love for him was endless, and the bond they shared was truly special.

Katie dedicated her life to serving others and doing whatever she could to make the world a better place. She proudly served in the United States Army as a Unit Supply Specialist (92Y) with the 384th Military Police Battalion from 2004 to 2014, including a deployment to Camp Bucca, Iraq, from 2007 to 2008.

In December 2009, Katie began her career as a confinement officer at the Allen County Jail, where she served for nearly 17 years. Through both her military service and her career, Katie demonstrated the courage, strength, and dedication that defined who she was.

Katie was a cherished daughter, a loving sister, a devoted mother, a beloved aunt, a proud Veteran and an amazing friend. Each of these roles was a reflection of the love she gave so freely and the special place she held in the lives of so many. Those who are fortunate enough to have known Katie will remember her as selfless, brave, caring, and kind. She was always willing to lend a hand, offer support, and be there for anyone in need. She gave so much of herself to others, without expecting anything in return.

Outside of work and service, Katie had a fun-loving side that brought her great happiness. She was an avid gamer and a fiercely loyal Green Bay Packers fan. One of her final wishes was for Evan to continue a tradition they had started together: attending a Green Bay Packers game every year. It was a tradition filled with memories, laughter, and the kind of time together that Evan will carry with him for the rest of his life.

An open-house-style Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Barrel House and Event Center, 2417 Spy Run Ave., Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805.

In lieu of flowers, family and friends are invited to bring a dish to share and, most importantly, bring your favorite memories and stories of Katie. Those memories will help celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the lives she touched.
