

Charlene Ann Stephens, age 100, passed away at Golden Years Nursing Home on Friday, January 24, 2025. Born on June 14, 1924, in Hamilton, Indiana to parents Alva and Ida (Dangler) Kepler, Charlene was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Charlene attended Hamilton Community Schools, and later earned her diploma from the International Correspondence School. Her career years were spent being an executive secretary for Wayne Feeds. Charlene was a bright individual whose intelligence and creativity knew no bounds. She loved to bring the beauty and warmth into every space she touched. Charlene found joy in the company of cats, vibrant colors of all flowers, and her many family and friends. A gifted organist and singer for church, Charlene proudly devoted her faith to Christianity, pouring her heart into every note. Alongside music, Charlene had a love for puppetry, delighting all who would attend her performances. Charlene was a lifelong learner and avid reader, reading nearly 50 books every month. She spread her passion for learning to others, serving as a literacy tutor. Her immense creativity was displayed in her paintings and artistry. Charlene enjoyed the finer things in life, and enjoyed spending her free time shopping. She honed her sharp mind at the card table, earning the title of a card shark from all who would play with her. During the season, Charlene had a thrill watching drag racing. Whether it was NASCAR or the Indy 500, she enjoyed cheering for her favorite drivers. Charlene is survived by her children, Alan (Linda) Keep, Emerson Keep, Corinne Holtzberg; grandchildren Jason (Jennifer) Keep, Shawn Keep, Ashley Holtzberg; great-grandchildren, Myles (Emily) Hicks, Morgan (Austyn) Hicks, Veda Keep, Ainsley Keep, Brentin Ellis; and great-great-grandchildren, Landon and Maison Hicks. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Stephens; and grandson Brent Holtzberg. A visitation will be held for Charlene on Saturday, February 1 from 2-4PM. A funeral service will take place on Monday, February 3 at 12PM, with visitation one hour prior. Charlene will be laid to rest at Highland Park Cemetery.
