

He was born on April 19th, 1936 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Donald Day and Lucille Irene (Kinyon) Bowers. Charles married Joanne Bell in June of 1956 in South Bend, Indiana; she preceded him in death. In 2014, he married Blanche Simpson in Englewood, Florida.
He graduated from Riley High School in South Bend, Indiana. He also attended Purdue University. Charles owned Superior Powder Coaters, in Fort Wayne, Indiana and the Corner Landing, in Angola, Indiana.
Chuck was a lifetime member of the Elks, member of the Moose, Scottish Rite, Mason & Mitzpah Shrine (Potentate 1991 & flying Shriner). He enjoyed fishing and boating in his free time.
Charles is survived by his wife, Blanche Bowers of FL; a daughter, Kim Lopez of FL; a son, Kirk Bowers of IN; grandchildren, Michelle (Paul) Kemp, Michael (Amber) Washer, Kyle (Erika) Washer, Brittany (Joel) Henney, Tyler (Kelly) Bowers, Leslyanne Lopez; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Donald Day and Lucille Irene (Kinyon) Bowers; his wife, Joanne Bell Bowers; and a sister, Sharol Bowers Vohs.
Visitation will be at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road Fort Wayne, IN 46804 on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Masonic service will also be held immediately following the visitation. A funeral service will be on Friday, May 12, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Tim Terrell officiating at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 with burial to follow at Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.
