Obituary of Charly Butcher
Charles S. Butcher, 61, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at his home in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and raised in Carmel, IN. Charly graduated from Carmel HS in 1975. He was a radio announcer and icon with WOWO and WMEE for over 30 yrs. He is known in Fort Wayne for his passion for broadcasting and the community, but to his family he will be remembered most for his almost 34 years of faithful and loyal marriage, pride in his children, and exceptional character. He loved rock and roll, fishing, the beach, riding his bicycle, and telling stories. He had a quick wit and an endlessly curious mind. His family benefited tremendously from his drive, wisdom, and insights, and his toughness was matched only by his ability to advise and encourage. With Kasey, he shared a love of movies, news, and reading; with Josh, sports and a good beer; with Marissa, a talent for music and dry humor; with his father, Charles, a love of fast cars and nature; and with Sarah, over three decades of life and love. His faith was the touchstone of his life and is a comfort to his family. Charly was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Surviving are his loving wife, Sarah Lynn Butcher of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Kasey (Julio Santana III) Butcher Santana of Denver, CO; son, Joshua Charles (Megan Crystal) Butcher of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Marissa Jane Butcher of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchild, Brooklyn Butcher; father Charles S (E. Jane) Butcher, Jr. of Carmel, IN; sisters, Eva (Dale) Sellers of Warsaw, IN; Kimberly (Thomas) Lake of KY; Elizabeth Chastain of Sheridan, IN.
