Cheryl Lynnette Hutchins, a kind-hearted, beloved resident and native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born on October 1, 1951. Cheryl was known for her loyalty, and was cherished by many for her compassion, humor, resilience, and honesty.
She was a graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School. Cheryl was a dedicated member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. On September 2, 2017, she married Gary Hutchins, with whom she shared a loving partnership.
Cheryl is survived by her husband Gary; her son, Tracey Salter and his wife, Tara; her brothers, Doyle Salter, Dennis Salter and his wife, Jessie, Kevin Salter and his wife, Bertha, and Juan Salter. She leaves her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will deeply miss her presence.
Cheryl had a profound love for her plants and family, and she enjoyed watching the news and crime shows. Her kind-hearted nature and cherished spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Salter and a brother, Steve "Sid" Salter.
