Obituary of Christopher "Chris" Lawrence Ahlersmeyer
Christopher “Chris” Lawrence Ahlersmeyer, 43, left this world peacefully while surrounded by love on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Parkview Hospital Randallia. He was born on August 26, 1978 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Lawrence Ahlersmeyer and the late Cindy Hoersten. Chris graduated from Woodlan High School in 1997. He was a forklift operator and a materials handling specialist for various companies in Fort Wayne. Chris was a loving, protective and very ornery partner, “step-dad”, son, nephew, brother, and cousin. He loved his people fiercely and would do anything to protect them. He was the biggest prankster and always loved a good laugh, especially over one of his favorite dad jokes. Chris loved going fast and pushing boundaries, spending as much time outside as possible, working out, admiring old cars and trucks, fixing things, and making a yard look beautiful. His greatest passion was reserved for animals, especially dogs. Our "dog-whisperer" never met a dog he couldn’t charm. If he had his way, he would have adopted every pitbull or bulldog he ever saw. He had dogs throughout his life starting at a very young age, and could tell you about every one of them in the greatest detail. His two current pups, Titan and Finn, are already missing him terribly. Although his life was all too short, Chris made such an impact on so many, even in his last days. He was complicated yet simple, quiet and shy, strong and handsome, sweet and sour, hardworking and dedicated but most of all, sincere and loving. Chris was so loved and has left huge holes in our hearts, but we take comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain and has been reunited with his beautiful mother. Chris is survived by his companion and girlfriend, Angela Ruckman and her son, Grayson, of New Haven, IN; daughters Alexa (Rachel) Gremaux of Fort Wayne, IN, and Marissalynn Krause of San Antonio, TX; twin siblings, Chelsy and Cory Hoersten of Woodburn, IN; aunts, Leigh Tilley, and Linda Elliott of Fort Wayne, IN; and several other loving family members and friends in the Fort Wayne area. In addition to his mother, Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Gloria “Granny” Carpenter, Hank and Juanita Ahlersmeyer; and uncle, Dan Carpenter. A memorial gathering to celebrate Chris' life will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, June 24, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations in his honor may be made to Angela Ruckman for final expenses or to the Fort Wayne Pitbull Coalition. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy for Chris' family may be shared at www.McCombandSons.com.
