

Clarence Raymond “C.R.” Hewes, 93, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 27, 2023. He was born October 25, 1929, to Clarence and Minnie Hewes in Fort Wayne. Graduating from Elmhurst High School, he enlisted in the Army and became a decorated veteran after proudly serving in Korea from 1951-1953. Following his military service, C.R. quickly built a career which focused on General Contracting. Well known for ‘CR Hewes Construction Inc.’, he was fond of seeing and showing others his multiple businesses, structures, and additions that remain standing strong in Fort Wayne and the surrounding areas. C.R. was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lucille in 2015. Always the consummate hosts they loved to entertain. They enjoyed an active life together that included boating the many water ways of Fort Myers, Florida and Saugatuck, Michigan and enjoyed adventures to 48 states via their motor coach. C.R. is survived by six sons, Garry L., Kevin J., Jeffrey A., and Michael D. of Fort Wayne, Clifford R. of Maumee, Ohio and J.D. of Fremont, Indiana, as well as seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many friends. A celebration of life will be held in his honor on Saturday, April 29, 2023. The memorial services will begin at 10:00 am at the Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with full military honors. Family and friends are then invited to meet from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Mizpah Shrine Center, 1015 Memorial Way, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805 to celebrate his 93 trips around the sun.
