Courtland R. Newcomb

Courtland Russell Newcomb, 63, passed away from this life on Monday, November 13, 2023, in the comfort of his home. He was born March 16, 1960, in Montpelier, Ohio, the son of Marion and Thelma (Wetmore) Newcomb. Court graduated from Homestead High School in 1979 and thereafter began his 22-year career in the food brokerage industry. On a joyful, sunny, May 1981 day, he wed the love of his life, Katrina (Fisher) and together they raised Leah and Kyle. Their journey took them to Cincinnati in 1996, where they made lifelong friends. Upon returning to Fort Wayne in the early 2000’s, Court and Katrina founded The Newcomb Group, which has grown to be one of the largest community management firms in Indiana. Court was a life-long, hard-working family man. When he wasn’t building his business, he cherished spending time sharing meals, fellowship, and pool days with his family and friends. Court was the first to lend his time and expertise to any project, whether it be a family member or a stranger. Court had a natural gift for making those around him comfortable. His presence and charisma would attract everyone to the dance floor, to the tunes of Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, or Earth, Wind, and Fire. Court was a born leader through his actions, ethics and by always exemplifying ‘The Golden Rule’. Court was preceded in death by his parents. His legacy continues through his wife, Katrina; his daughter, Leah (Ryan) Keena, grandchildren Letty, Quinn, and Cooper; his son, Kyle (Jessica), grandchildren, Hendricks, Indie, and future grandchild #6, due in May ‘24; sisters, Cheryle (Robert) Hitchcock, Stephanie (Larry) Hoyle, and Camille (Jack) Garrison; and beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne with a celebration of life gathering beginning at 1:00 pm.
