On the quiet morning of May 16, 2025, the world lost a truly remarkable soul, Craig Robert Daugherty, at the age of 46. Born on April 4, 1979, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Craig spent his life in the community he adored, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met. Craig was a proud 1997 graduate of Wayne High School, where his talent on the baseball field earned him a D1 scholarship to Ball State University. His prowess as a pitcher caught the eye of the Atlanta Braves, who offered Craig a contract to play on their farm club, marking the beginning of a promising career in baseball. Although life took him on a different path, he continued to share his love for the game, especially his beloved Pittsburgh Pirates, with anyone willing to listen. Professionally, Craig was a dedicated employee at FXI in Fort Wayne, where his colleagues knew him as a hardworking and reliable team member. Beyond his work, Craig's heart was as big as his smile, always ready to help a friend in need Whether it was lending a hand or offering the shirt off his back, he was there, a testament to his generous and loving nature. Craig's love for animals was evident in his cherished relationship with his black lab, Bubba. His love for dogs was only matched by his passion for Pittsburgh Steelers football, a team he supported with unwavering loyalty. Community was important to Craig, who actively participated as an Indiana Organ Donor, showing his commitment to helping others even after his passing. Craig leaves behind his loving parents, James and Shirley Daugherty, sister, Christine (Michael) Shortt; brother, Jamie (Kaylene) Daugherty; niece, Madison Daugherty; and nephews, Derek Lynch, William Daugherty, and Wessley Daugherty.
