With hearts full of love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, father, and son, Curry Lane Caldwell, who departed this life on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. He was 62 years old.
Born on September 17, 1963, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Curry was the oldest of five Caldwell children and a guiding light in our family from the very beginning.
It was a blessing to grow up beside our big brother in Leo, Indiana, where his gentle spirit and boundless imagination were already shining brightly. As the eldest, Curry naturally carried a quiet strength, but it was never heavy — it was warm, protective, and filled with kindness. He had the most caring and carefree personality, almost childlike in the most beautiful way. He saw goodness in everyone he met and had a rare gift: he reflected that goodness back to people so they could see just how special they truly were.
Curry dedicated his working life to the service industry, where his warm smile, easygoing nature, and genuine care for others left lasting impressions on coworkers and customers alike. He did not just serve meals or assist guests — he served people with dignity, humor, and heart.
A lifelong lover of Marvel comics, Curry carried a heroic imagination that never faded. He admired stories of courage and redemption, perhaps because he embodied those qualities himself. Beyond comics, he nurtured a deep passion for writing. He wrote poetry, journaled faithfully, and found comfort and expression through words. Writing was not just a hobby for Curry — it was how he processed the world and left pieces of his soul behind for those who would later read them.
Above all, Curry was a loving father. He leaves behind his children: Brandon (Brook) Caldwell, Jasmine (TJ) Townsend, and Alexiea Caldwell; his cherished fiancé, Jennifer Porter and her children: Anah Porter, and Trisha Porter; three grandchildren: Anakin Caldwell, Malachi Caldwell, and Savaya Amos-Brown. They were his pride, his joy, and the greatest chapters of his life story.
He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Geneva Caldwell; his siblings, Paul (Nina) Caldwell, Jr., Kaprice (Adrias) Barnett, and Nicki (Michael) Venable; aunt, Martha Hatch and many extended family members and friends whose lives he touched deeply.
He is reunited in eternal peace with his father, Paul S. “Ricky” Caldwell; his brother, Allen Clay Caldwell; t and his beloved grandparents, Henry and DeFrancis Hatch.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we hold tightly to the laughter, the stories, the handwritten pages, and the countless moments where Curry reminded us of who we were at our best. His spirit was gentle but powerful, and his love was steady and true.
As his family, we will forever remember the boy who grew up beside us — imaginative, tender-hearted, and full of light. And we will carry forward what he taught us all: to see the good in others and to make sure they see it in themselves.
Curry’s story does not end here. It lives on in his children, in his words, and in every life, he quietly made better simply by being himself. Always remember, "With great power comes great responsibility."
A visitation will be held at Pilgrim Baptist Church of Fort Wayne, located at 1331 Gay St, Fort Wayne, IN 46803, on February 28, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
The funeral service will follow starting at 11:00 am.
Interment will take place following the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804
