Daniel Keesler

Daniel spent his working years as a machine operator in manufacturing, bringing steady effort and resilience to the daily demands of his trade. Even in life’s harder stretches, he was known for meeting the moment with endurance—and for the kind of humor and quick wit that could lighten a room without ever asking for attention.

Daniel was married to Dorothy Rachel Keesler, who preceded him in death on September 1, 2018. He is survived by his children and family: step-son, Ryan (Theresa) Hicks, of Fort Wayne, IN; step-son, Keven Hicks, of Fort Wayne, IN; son, Daniel (Leisa) Hicks, Monroeville, IN; daughter, Angela Keesler, of Fort Wayne, IN; and brother Raymond Keesler, of Fort Wayne, IN. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sister, Marie Harmon; his brothers, Dave Keesler and Rex Keesler; his grandson, Adam Wilcher; and his niece, Terra Henning.

In his quieter hours, Daniel found enjoyment in the simple comforts of home and the familiar pleasures that made him smile—video games and Nintendo, “Crazy Games” on his phone, and a well-chosen movie, especially Army and war films, history, westerns, and SciFi. He valued family time and could often be found with cards or dice close at hand, ready for a game and a laugh. He also had a fondness for animals, especially cats, and appreciated the calm of fishing, nature, and sitting outside. A true homebody at heart, he also kept busy scrapping metal, always finding purpose in what could be gathered, sorted, and used.

To honor his wishes, cremation will occur.
