I just heard of Dan's passing and I am praying for the family. I had the opportunity to work with Dan over the past 6 years at Community Harvest Food Bank. He helped us with the tear down and construction of a greenhouse for the food bank. Even though he was having some major health issues, he was out giving us a hand every day for 2 weeks. His entire family, from his father on down, have been great supporters of the food bank. Many of our clients would have gone hungry without their support. Dan had become a good friend and always had some great stores to tell.

I met Dan at our NCS faith based, Friday morning, men's group. We often were at the same table beside each other. His transparency blessed me and His faith inspired me. I will miss him dearly. I thank God that he connected us... In my grief, I have fond memories. I am glad me will meet again.

I was so sad to learn of Dan’s passing. He was so special to me and my daughter Amy. We loved his whole family. I introduced him and Beth. Thrilled when they got married and had 3 wonderful children. I know what a loss you all feel with dad being gone but he loved you all and was so very proud of you. His big brother Jim was the outstanding influence in his life. He will be missed but remembered by so many! Love , Nancy

I was a fraternity brother of Dan's at MSU. He was my fraternity "big brother" and roommate during part of my time at Alpha Delta Phi. I have numerous lasting and fond memories of our fraternity days together. While we had not stayed in touch as much as we should have over the years, it was good to see him at John Gruber's retirement party not all that long ago. It was great to catch up then and I am confident we will see each other again in heaven. In the meantime, he will surely be missed and I offer my prayers and condolences to his family.

I was in Mr Malcolm's Latin class for two years in junior high with Dan. I remember he always wore the belt buckle  and ring his mom had made. He was kind and funny. His latin name was Publius.

Sorry to hear of Dan's passing.  Dan was always a good neighbor.  He was always there to help if I needed it.   I enjoyed visiting with him and his family.  My  prayers are with the family during this difficult time.

We all met thanks to the fraternity but our friendship endured over the years. We loved meeting up with Dan when he lived in New Mexico. We were able to enjoy each other’s company and the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. What a sight to see; all those hot air balloons taking flight.

When Dan was back in Fort Wayne, we again spent time together. He was always quick to engage in conversation and laughter. We were thrilled when he was able to attend John’s retirement party. It was so good to get the boys together again. 

You will be missed, dear friend. Like a big teddy bear, you were always ready with a warm hug and a smile!  

My name is William Klenk.  I am a Alpha Delta Phi fraternity brother of Dan´s.  We shared a house at 214 Charles St. at M.S.U.  I enjoyed Dans comraderie and his different viewpoints on lot´s of issues.  I remember the strength of his character when he  was having some challanges, he rose to the challange and became a better person for it.  Dan had a great smile was easy to talk to and was always going after his goals.  I will miss him and hope that we´ll all meet again someday.  My prayers and sympathies go out to his family and all who knew him.  Rest in Peace Dan, Xaipe my brother.


Wow, words will not do justice ! Dan and I re connected at CR and the Chapel after many moons. I loved his warrior spirit ! 
He had the Juice and loved God s  grace  .

I'm also a fraternity brother of Dan's from A D Phi at MSU. Dan was indeed larger than life. An infectious personality with a wry grin that grew to a wide smile, you knew you were going to have a fun time. Of course, Dan had a serious side enabling him to accomplish many things in life. Dan was my roommate for a year in the Alpha Delt house at MSU.  He taught me to love both kinds of music, Country and Western.  So thankful for the colorful memories of our college days.  Miss you my Brother.  

Dan was a fraternity brother of mine. Dan’s uncle, Dave Upton, inspired us with Hank Skinner to start the fraternity. All of them changed our lives for the better. We will miss you Dan.
