DAVID C. "BOB" ABLES, 78, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late George W. Ables Sr. and Helen M Ables. Bob worked currently at the Shepherd's House in maintenance and was an electrician with Laux Arnold Electric for 10 years, retiring in 2007. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a SeaBee, stationed in the Virgin Islands. He was a proud Purple Heart recipient. Bob was a former member of the VFW Post 10006 where he served as Commander and currently a member of the VFW Post 1421 and also a member of 40&8. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Surviving are his daughters, Sheri (Dave) Harlow and Pam (Nathan) Sliger, both of Fort Wayne; son, Bobby (Lynn) Ables of Huntertown, Ind.; brother, Thomas (Jan) Ables of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many friends. Bob was also preceded in death by wife, Marlene Ables, and brother, George W Ables, Jr. Service is 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, with calling from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Burial with military honors in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Ind.
