IN THE CARE OF
Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home
David Warner Baxter of Fort Wayne, died on April 22, 2021 at the age of 87, surrounded by his family. Drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953, Dave served his country with honor in the Korean War. He and his wife, Grace, lived in Denver, CO for 23 years prior to returning to Indiana. Dave worked in the automotive industry and retired from a career in sales with Dayco Corporation. He loved singing, writing, and playing music – piano, organ, and guitar. He kept busy with hobbies such as woodworking, cycling, and sailing. Dave never met a stranger; or if he did, they didn’t stay a stranger for long. He loved a good story or conversation, and he loved his family most of all. Dave is survived by Grace, his wife of 51 years, who attributes their long and happy marriage to the many work trips Dave took through the years. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Rollo) Leimer; grandsons, William “Jeff” (Lori) Baxter, David “Aaron” (Sarah) Baxter, Nick (Krista) Baxter, and Josh (Kelsey) Baxter; and great grandchildren, Isaac, Laurel, Archer, Forest, Charlie, Sawyer, Lionel, Ben, William, Emily, Oliver, and Theodore. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, William and Jay; sister, Loril; and grandson, Ryan. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Lutheran Life Villages on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Memorials may be made to the American Legion. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.klaehnfahlmeltonfunerals.com for the Baxter family.
