

David W. Pelz, 82, joined his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Born in Fort Wayne on December 26, 1943 with his twin Diane, he was the son of Wayne E. Pelz and Virginia R. Smith. David graduated from Elmhurst High School Class of 1962. After graduation he was employed by the Wabash Railroad for eight years. He then joined the family business, Pelz Wrecking Company and Pelz Reception Hall. His interest in cars led him to sales at Allen County Motors and Kelly Cadillac/Hummer. He then followed his dream of owning a restaurant and opened Zachary’s Family Restaurant named after his son. He retired from Concordia Theological Seminary as Athletic Director and spent his retirement years as Hospitality Manager at Culvers on Stellhorn Road. David was active with the youth group at Bethany Presbyterian Church and was instrumental in the Time Corners Little League as president and manager. David loved people and the time he spent with them all. They showed the same love back and he had many friends. David is survived by his loving wife and caregiver Carolyn (Lott/Louden) Pelz, son Zachary David (Brittany) Pelz, grandchildren Max, Norah, and Caroline Pelz, brother Jeffrey (Valerie) Pelz, and brother-in laws Dave Waldrop and Jack Sprouls.
David was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Virginia Pelz, sister, Nuralon "Lonnie" Sprouls, sister Diane Waldrop, brother Douglas Pelz, sister and brother-in-law Brenda and Dan Jackson.
