Dave graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1971 and went on to attend Buffalo University. His position with General Motors brought him to Fort Wayne, IN, where he built a long and respected career, serving as a supervisor on the assembly line. While at GM, he proudly represented his colleagues in the UAW. He retired in 2007, closing a chapter defined by hard work and reliability.
Beyond his career, Dave was an avid gardener, attentive to the quiet rewards of patience and care. He also enjoyed collecting many things over the years, notably coins and baseball cards—pursuits that reflected both a careful eye and an enduring enthusiasm. An avid bowler as well, Dave spent many years on the lanes and proudly bowled multiple perfect 300 games throughout his life. A devoted sports fan, Dave held a lifelong allegiance to the Buffalo Bills. His loyalty never wavered, and his steadfast devotion to his favorite team was a familiar and cherished part of who he was.
Dave also held a special place in his heart for his dogs, Rizzo and Cooper. Their companionship was part of the warmth of his daily life and remains a tender memory for those who knew him best.
Dave is survived by his wife, April Schwartz; his children, Eric Schwartz and Nicole Schwartz; his grandchildren, Skyeler, Klayton, and Arabella; his siblings, Carol (Wayne Hergert) Schwartz-Hergert, and Don (Tammy Ferrell) Schwartz; and his nieces and nephews, David, Lyndsay, Garrett, Jennifer, Karissa, and Patrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Joan (Obenauer) Schwartz.
In honoring Dave's final wishes, the family will hold a private Celebration of Life for Dave at a later date. Dave will be laid to rest at Arcadia Park Cemetery, 4215 Tonawanda Creek Rd, North Tonawanda, NY 14120.
