David O. Shultz, 90, passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 2, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Elmer and Alma (Zelt) Shultz.
Dave graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in 1954. In 1957, he married Mary Ann (Decker) Shultz, beginning a partnership that spanned 69 years.
Dave dedicated 35 years of his career to Magnavox, where he took great pride in working his way up from stock boy to plant manager. He was also a member of the company’s Quarter-Century Club, a testament to his years of dedication and hard work. From 1970 to 1980, Dave and Mary Ann owned and operated the Ossian Drive Inn. He also served as a distributor for Orange Whip of Indiana and Illinois. Following his retirement from Magnavox, he continued his professional career as a realtor with Graber Realty and Coldwell Banker.
Throughout his life, Dave was committed to his community and served on numerous boards, including Partners 1st Credit Union for 30 years, where he eventually served as president. He was also a proud member of American Legion Post 37.
Dave had a lifelong passion for sports and enjoyed playing racquetball, tennis, golf, softball, and pickleball. He was an avid Indiana University fan who faithfully followed both the basketball and football teams. Whether spending summers at the lake or the warm winters in Florida, Dave embraced life and made the most of every opportunity.
Known for his practical nature and love of finding a good deal, Dave was famously careful with a dollar, a quality that served his family well. He worked hard, valued his friendships, and cherished the simple pleasures of life, especially time spent with family. He will be remembered for his positive outlook, his remarkable ability to always be "content", and the lasting memories he created with the people he loved.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Shultz; his son, Fred (Lorie) Shultz; his daughter, Debbie Tannehill; his daughter-in-law, Judy Shultz; his grandchildren, Brian Tannehill, Jeff (Katie) Tannehill, Pamela Shultz, Nick Shultz, and Leah Bartkowiak; his great-grandchildren, Phoenix and Londyn; and his sister, Kathy (Cary) Sloan.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Phil Shultz; his brother, Jim Shultz; and his sister, Carol Derickson.
