

David Patrick "Wally" Walsh, 77, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, in his hometown. Born on June 8, 1948, in Fort Wayne, David lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a passion for the things he loved.
David graduated from South Side High School in Fort Wayne in 1966. Shortly after completing his education, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. From 1966 to 1970, David served with honor and distinction, stationed in San Diego, California, as well as Japan and Vietnam. His time in the Navy was a source of pride and shaped much of his character.
After completing his military service, David returned to Fort Wayne and embarked on a long career with Dana Corporation. Through hard work and dedication, he built a successful career there before retiring.
David had a zest for life that was evident in the hobbies he pursued and the teams he cheered for. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He also enjoyed playing chess and poker with friends—a pastime that brought him camaraderie and countless cherished memories. A devoted sports fan, David followed hockey and horse racing with enthusiasm. He rooted passionately for the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Boston Celtics, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Indiana Hoosiers.
He is survived by his three sisters: Jane (Jim) Cavacini, Susan (Steve) Miller, and Kathy Morgan; his son Robert (Arlene) Walsh; and three beloved grandchildren: Justin, Dillon, and Zayden. David’s parents—Robert F. Walsh and Wilma Jean Sullivan—preceded him in death.
