David Paul Wiegman passed into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2026. David was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on April 15, 1936, the son of Herbert and Dorothy Wiegman. He was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne. He attended South Side High School (1954) and graduated from Indiana University in 1958, with a bachelor’s degree in Business. David served in the Air National Guard and was deployed to France from November 1961 to April 1962, around the time of the construction of the Berlin Wall. David worked in marketing and sales at Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire Company for his entire career, spanning 40+ years.
David married Ruth Ann (Pifer) Wiegman in August of 1961 and was by her side when she passed away on November 14, 2025. They raised four children together. David was a faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church for most of his life and was also a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church for the past several years. David served his community throughout his life, including volunteering for his church, Campus Life, Make-A-Wish, SCORE, and any school committee that needed help when his children were younger.
David is survived by his children, Catherine (Patrick) Overmyer, Betsy Wiegman, John (Cheri) Wiegman and Rebecca (Bryan) Parman; his grandchildren, Samantha (Steven) Vrchota, Jacob Alberding, Jack and Alex Wiegman, Claire Taranta; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1505 Bethany Lane, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46825, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.
