She was a graduate of Greenhills High School in Greenhills, OH. Debi got her start in the health care field as a LPN at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was one of the first paid paramedics with Western Gateway Ambulance Service in the Everglades National Park, Florida. Debi also graduated from Broward Community College with her RN nursing degree and went on to work a variety of nursing positions as a critical care nurse in Florida and Georgia.
Debi enjoyed biking in the Everglades, singing in the church choir, ice dancing, baking, cooking, collecting Nutcrackers, and sleeping in haunted houses. She was a history buff and enjoyed visiting historical sites. She loved watching the History Channel, Fox News and cooking shows.
She always enjoyed a glass of good red wine, making meals for family and friends to gather together and share fellowship, and creating memories to last a lifetime.
Debi was proceeded in death by her husband, Gerald Aune after 29 years of marriage, just 70 short days ago. Gerald was the love of Debi’s life. Together, they enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, eating fresh seafood, all things Disney, and visiting friends in North Dakota, Georgia and Florida. She loved spending time watching documentaries on a wide variety of topics. Gerald and Debi could often be found telling Ole and Lena jokes, laughing loudly and preparing for the next big family Sunday dinner.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and James Land of Fort Wayne, IN; Shawna and Bruce Lyons of Cumming, GA; Devyn Grimm of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren Ryan Lyons, James Land Jr, Ansley Lyons, Sabrina Dombrowski, Matana Land, Amanda Dombrowski, Jordyn Dombrowski, Michael Evans and Ashley Evans, siblings Cheryl Crawford of Fairfield, OH; Pamela Birch of Cranston, Rhode Island; and Tom Cruse of Chicago, Illinois.
