Deloris Ann (Walker) Brooks was born to Minnie Lee and Henry Walker on July 29, 1955, in Uniontown, Alabama. On June 29, 2026, Deloris Ann gained her wings at the age of 70.
Deloris moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1963. She was a 1974 graduate of Northrop High School. She then attended Central Vocational School, and IVY Tech College. She was employed by Lincoln National Insurance Company for many years. She then went into management for Sears, Walmart and Sav-A-Lot customer service departments.
Deloris confessed Christ at the age of eleven. When she was twelve, she chose to have a closer relationship with Christ, her Lord.
As a teenager, she had a Christian experience of dreams/visions, trapped underground, drowning in muddy water, in the State of Ohio, a state she knew nothing of at the time.
After experiencing this for the third time, she fully acknowledged what she had to do. It was time to wash away the uncleanliness in her life; to be baptized, and her life would be "saved”. In the visions she saw two other people who were dear to her, “Aunt Bae” Annie Thompson and a close friend, Howard Freeman. She told them about her experience, in 1974, both she and Howard were baptized at Greater Progressive Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Smith. Her Aunt then joined another Church.
In 1975, she married her beloved husband, Edward Brooks. Later, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Alicia Jeannell Walker Brooks.
Alicia was Deloris's "SPECIAL GIFT" from God. Her GREATEST GIFT was that both she and Alicia accepted Christ as their Saviour, and that the Lord love them as He does.
Deloris knew her callings, she became a faithful and active member of the Senior Usher Board, and a member of the Matrons/choir. She willingly helped out in Church in any way she could. She faithfully paid her tithes and gave offerings. In 1995 Deloris felt the need to seek out another church home and she joined Greater Mount Ararat Baptist Church. In 2018, she made Oakridge Temple Church of God in Christ her church home.
Deloris enjoyed movies, music, decorating, building things, her yard and home. Her love for family was unmeasurable.
Deloris leaves to cherish in her memory, her beloved daughter; Alicia J. Brooks (Quentin Sr.) Royal of Fort Wayne, IN; granddaughters, Keziah Gaulden and Eliyah Brooks; grandson, Quentin Royal Jr.; her sisters, Joanne George of Cleveland OH, Barbara Walker, Marilyn Walker, Patricia (Maurice) Edwards all of Fort Wayne and Ruth Walker of Uniontown, AL; god sister, Geneva Winborn of Fort Wayne; her brothers, Mack Walker Jackson, Charles L. Freeman, Tori Humphrey Sr. all of Fort Wayne and Henry Walker III of Uniontown AL; a special godson, Joseph Woods Jr.; god-daughters, LaQuondra Freeman, Angelia Deloris Williams both of Fort Wayne, and Breannia Taylor of South Carolina; a very special sister/friend, Linda Causey, as well as a host beloved of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Freeman; brothers, Henry Walker Jr. and George Walker; sisters, Brooksnell Walker, Brenda Freeman and Terriann Freeman and a beloved nephew, Malcolm Walker, and her grandmother, Elizabeth Owens.
