Diane C. Runkel, 79, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in Celina, OH on February 16, 1947, daughter of the late Leander and Rose Ann (Uhlenhake) Timmerman. She married Larry W. Runkel on January 20, 1968. Diane worked for Wells Fargo Bank for 40 years and was a member of St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic Church. She especially loved planting flowers and the beauty they brought to the world around her. One of her greatest joys was spending time watching her grandsons participate in sports. These moments brought her tremendous happiness and pride. Surviving are her children, David Runkel and Kevin (Pauletta) Runkel; grandchildren, Wyatt, Smith and Everett; and siblings, Ken (Lynne) Timmerman and Steven (Penny) Timmerman. Diane was also preceded in death by her husband, Larry and sister, Elaine (Timmerman) Correll. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic Church, 11337 US-27 Fort Wayne, Indiana 46816, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 6, 2026 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home 6424 Winchester Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819, with a Rosary service beginning at 4:30 pm. Burial to follow the Mass at St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
