Diane Suttle, 62, of Fort Wayne, IN transitioned to be with her Lord on Monday, April 15th, 2019 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Suttle was born on May 1st, 1956 in Chicago, IL to the late Willie Mae Hardin and James Hargrett. She graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne. Diane continued her education at Purdue University Fort Wayne, where she received her RN in nursing. On January 31st, 1976, she married the love of her life, Michael D. Suttle at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. He preceded her in death in 2008 and they shared a beautiful life together. Diane served as a registered nurse with Parkview Randallia Hospital for 42 years before retiring in 2016. She was a trailblazer in the nursing industry for African American women and also was one of the first African American nurses to receive her wings as a flight nurse on the Samaritan Helicopter with Parkview. She was a servant at heart and during her years of nursing service; she took care of families in the NICU, taught CPR at the Red Cross, assisted families with private in-home health care, cared for children and youth with disabilities, and became family to those she served. After retiring in 2016, she went back to care for others as a registered nurse at Dupont Hospital until 2018 when she retired. Diane was a long time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. She was very fashionable and an avid reader. She adored her husband, children, family, and loved ones. Her beautiful spirit lives on through her daughters: De’Aynne Traccie Suttle, Angel Lynn Suttle, Wylie Shenelle Hill (Curtis) Martin, grandchildren: Adanis Michael Suttle, Brielle Rylie Suttle, Kei Alexander Martin, siblings: Joyce Bates, Wylie Hill, Sandra (Greg) Wright, Darren Hargrett, Duane Hargrett, James Hargrett, and loving companion, Joe Doty plus a magnitude of cherished friends and extended family. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20th, 2019 10am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 3705 South Anthony Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46806. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 19th, 2019 from 4-7pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
