Dolores M. Bates

Dolores M. Bates, 77, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday May 13, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Born on April 10, 1936, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. She retired after 30 years of service at KMART in customer service, and also worked at the Hampton Inn, Southwest, as a breakfast hostess. She is survived by her sons; Steven Bates, of Germany, Daniel Bates, John (Ruth) Bates, and Brian Bates, all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Spencer, Chelsea, and Clarissa; and siblings, Bernice Peck, Vern (Donna) Doehrman, and Will (Bev) Doehrman. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert R. “Bob” Bates, in 2011, and parents Herman and Martha Doehrman. Funeral service will be held at 10 AM Friday May 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1636 St. Mary’s Avenue, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday May 16, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorial Donations may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, or Worship for Shut-ins, or Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
