Dr. Donald Allen Bollheimer, 86, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born August 13, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Carl and Alice Bollheimer.
Donald graduated from the University of Dayton, and Marquette Medical School in Wisconsin in 1961, and completed his Ophthalmology residency at Ohio State University. He was an Ophthalmologist in Fort Wayne, with over 61 years’ experience. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jill Ann Bollheimer of Fort Wayne, IN; children, Dr. Susan (Kirk) Eggebrecht, Daniel (Patricia) Bollheimer, Hollie Bollheimer all of Fort Wayne, IN; brother, Douglas (Cathy) Bollheimer of Erie, PA; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Donald's life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 8, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. A visitation will also take place from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
