He was born March 29, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Thomas and Leona (Lewis) Brunner. He
retired from Azar's, Inc. as Director of Operations/Commissary. He was a member of the Van Wert Ohio
Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Don had the privelege of serving as a congregation servant, then as an elder in many different congregations. He enjoyed teaching others about God's Kingdom. In his early years, he had the privilege of regular pioneering for five years. He was even arrested for preaching the good news in Payne, Ohio. But that didn't stop his zeal. He also served many years as Cafeteria Overseer at the circuit assemblies. He also enjoyed being on the Patient Visitatiion Group in Ocala, Florida. As many of you know he enjoyed writing letters of encouragement to his spiritual friends, return visits and relatives. Don dedicated his life to Jehovah on August 23, 1953, and faithfully served him up to his death. Don started working at a very early age selling the Post Magazine, and shining shoes. Don had many odd jobs. He was a painters helper at many auto dealerships. His first job starting pay was .50 per hour or four dollars a day. Betty didn’t know what dealership he was working for, until he came home with a different uniform. When he regular pioneered he worked for Eavey’s Supermarket with two other brothers that were also regular pioneers, Bob and Ron Ehrman. Don also worked 13 years with International Harvester. His last position with IHC was a Torque Inspector. In 1974, Don with his wife Betty and daughter, Donna moved to Tampa, Florida, fulfilling a dream his father Tom always wanted to do, and of course, Don always wanted to live in Florida also. He started a cleaning business in Tampa. But, that adventure only lasted a year. The family returned to Antwerp, where he continued the cleaning service. Then he went to Azar’s Inc. as a distribution manager. Later, he became Director of
Operations/Commissary. Once again, Don & Betty made a second moved to Ocala, Florida this time for
15 years. Don told his family: Now, in my final years, living with my precious family. I feel like, what
Abraham said; “I am old and satisfied”. Don had a love for music. He enjoyed listening to all types: Country, Rock, Pop, Jazz etc....If he was by himself in the car, the music would be blaring. You would always find him on jw.org downloading the new music videos produced by Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York, Inc. One of Don’s Favorite Scriptures: I was once young and now I am old,
But I have not seen anyone righteous abandoned, Nor his children looking for bread. ~Psalm 37:25
