ADD A MEMORYPastor Al Bierlein

I have many fond memories of Don from the 12+ years we were neighboring pastors in the Decatur Circuit. Much of our shared ministry centered on the grade school which served St. John Flatrock and Emmanuel Soest, and we were privileged to see the children of both churches (including my own three children) grow in the knowledge of the Lord. One special remembrance was the unique German Polka Service which he created for the Hoagland Oktoberfest. Don was also a very knowledgable historian of the Hoagland area, and he could often fill me in on the background of the community and its people. Both Don and Evelyn touched many lives in their caring ministry and are great examples of faithful servants of the Lord. I am saddened by his passing, but I know he is at home with his Savior Jesus.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. I have fond memories of Pastor Frank at Flatrock. He confirmed me and performed my marriage.

Pastor Don confirmed me and he also married Don and I in 1967. He was a great influence in our lives living in Monroeville. Evelyn and Don were great friend living on lake George for many years and members of peace. May he test in peace with our Lord

Pastor Frank was very special to me. I babysat their three boys for him and Evelyn as a teenager. When I worked at International Harvester, Evelyn made beautiful wreaths and candles and I would sell them for her at work. I just remember how thrilled she was that so many people loved them and purchased them! They were a great couple to me and I was so fortunate to have Pastor Frank marry Arnie and I on August 17, 1968. It was wonderful to have him be a part of one of the best days of my life. Sending love and prayers to the whole Frank family, Pastor Frank was definitely a great man that I will always be grateful for. Sincerely, Sandy (Grotrian) Ball
