Donald A Jones, 85, of Steuben County, Indiana passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was born March 14, 1936 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Fremont David and Marjorie Alice (Augspurger) Jones. The second son of five boys, Donald was married to Marilyn (Smith) Jones, and together they had three children who survive him, Kent, Renee and Keith along with five granddaughters. He was also married to Karen (McHugh) Jones who preceded him in death. Donald went to Southside High School in Fort Wayne, and obtained his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He was well-respected during his 39 year career in the natural gas industry with Sprague Gas Meter Company, eventually rising from Design Engineer to their Director of Engineering and Divisional Vice President of a Fortune 500 company. Outside of his professional career, Donald was a loving father and grandfather, and his presence will be sorely missed. Donald enjoyed many hobbies, including airplanes, bowling, sailing on Long Island Sound with his wooden boat, motorcycles and his African Parrot, Sidney. After retirement, he toured all lower 48 states of the USA on his Harley Davidson with his motorcycle club, the Kentucky Eagles. He spent his final years on Snow Lake in Indiana, where he was well known in the wooden boat community for his 1948 Century Seamaid. He is being cremated at D.O. McComb Funeral Homes in Fort Wayne, and a memorial service will be held at a future date that will be announced on their website.
