Donald E. "Don" Manter, 94, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Lutheran Downtown Hospital surrounded by his family. Don was born on July 26, 1929 in Fort Wayne, a son of the late Edward and Josie (Dull) Manter. He worked as a model maker for Tokheim for 21 years, retiring in 1992. Not wanting to slow down, he continued working other jobs for another 18 years to age 80. In his free time, he enjoyed yard work, NASCAR, working on his Harley, and especially catering to all his grandchildren's needs. Surviving family include his children, Keith (LuAnn) Manter, Kristy (Darryl) Brewer, David (Stephanie) Manter, and Tricia (Tim) Flotow; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife in 1996, Patty (Smith) Manter; and daughter in 1997, Julie Stephens. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 North Wells Street, Fort Wayne with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
