

Donald R. “Dick” Williams, 95, passed away December 10, 2023 in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born in Roanoake, IN, the son of James Virgil and Zola Mae (Zent) Williams and farmed with his family. He graduated from Roanoke HS in 1946 and Huntington College in 1950. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War and received a Bronze Star for meritorious service. He spent 13 months in Korea as a Sqt 1st Class, Director of Personnel.
He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 296.
Upon returning home, he was a bookkeeper for 5 years at Roanoke Hardware, Tax Consultant and Insurance Broker for 39 years, Slater Steel for 5 years and FWCS for 11 years.
Dick was a jack of all trades and could fix anything and everything. This was something he learned at an early age on the farm.
He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dick enjoyed playing euchre, softball, basketball and golf. He had 3 hole in ones, on par 3 courses. He was also a Golden Gloves Boxer. He enjoyed big band music and “Mr. Sandman and Only You” was among his favorites.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Williams of Fort Wayne, IN; son Greg (Tonya Edgington) Williams, daughter Pamm (Greg) Wood, grandchildren, Eric (Mandy) Wood, Elissa (Eric) Chudzicki, Aaron (Anita) Wood, and 8 great grandchildren, Eden (Jeremiah Stutzman, Luis Wood, Elijah Wood, Harper Piper, Willow Chudzicki, Eloise and Ethan Wood.
Dick was preceded in death by brothers, Virgil, Delmar, Paul, James Williams and sister, Bette and Bess.
Funeral service will be 4:00 pm Sunday December 17, 2023, at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home 8325 Covington Road Fort Wayne, IN. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 pm and after services from 5-7 pm. Private Entombment at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Neighbor Link or Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
