Donna Rae Syndram, 87, of Fort Wayne, Indiana joined her family of angels in heaven on July 20, 2026. Donna was born on July 27, 1938, daughter of the late Edward and Mildred Woodward. After her mother passed away at an early age, Donna was raised by her father and grandmother. She attended Central High School, and met the love of her life, Richard, at the Frosty Moe Ice Cream shop, where she told her cousin, “I’m going to marry that man”. Richard joined the Navy soon after they wed and she followed him to Norfolk, Virginia where they started their family with twin boys. They soon returned to Fort Wayne and she dedicated her life to her husband of 68 years, and to caring for her large family of 7 children, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and support. Donna was tiny in stature, but a Warrior in strength, determination and love of God. She fought many battles with her health but always summoned the strength and faith to fight back and keep going. She always made you feel welcome and cared for, usually by baking you her famous cookies. She delighted in spending time with her husband and kids, either on vacations, family gatherings, camping, or just visiting on the back deck. Her light will continue to shine brightly in the eyes and hearts of her family; her husband, Richard Sr; children, Sheryl (Tom) Merchant, Richard Jr. (Kellie), Lori (Tim) Price, Patty (Greg) Fulk, Michael (Jayme); as well as 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandkids. She was also welcomed into heaven by her twin sons, John (Tracey) and James (Stephanie), as well as other beloved family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Burial to follow the service at Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
