After moving to Fort Wayne she gained employment with the Fort Wayne State Developmental Center (State School) for 23 years and retired in 1990. She was a Christian woman and served in many areas of the church such as the missionary department and as choir director. Dorothy was owner of Barbeque King for many years and also served her community as a foster parent for children and adults.
Mama loved to cook, sing and praise God.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Booker, Sr.; sons, James D. Booker, Robert D. Booker; a grandson, Dawan Martin; her sisters, Anna Mae Struggs, Elise Matson, Glenora Patrick, Mattie Pearl Crutcher, Augusta Williams, Ruby Cowan and Arie Nance; her brothers, Ed Tibbs, Arthur Tibbs, Sr., Ezell Tibbs, Sr. Dan Tibbs, Jr. and Dillard Struggs.
She leaves to cherish many memories and the continuance of her legacy to her daughters, Robbie and Brenda Booker; sons, Curtis, Jesse, and Dennis Booker; 25 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service Celebrating Dorothy's Life will be 12:00 pm Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Abundant Life Church, 3301 E. Coliseum Blvd. (46805) with visitation one hour prior to services. Pastor David Keller officiating. Burial will follow in Lindenwood Cemetery.
