

DOROTHY GERTRUDE WARD, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at Saint Anne Nursing Home. Born Feb. 17, 1924, in Ipswich, S.D., she was a daughter of the late Joseph Heinz and Amelia (Pitz) Heinz. She was an Army nurse serving in World War II and RN at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, Co-Founder of Widows of Prayer in Fort Wayne, and Co-Founder of the Resurrection Prayer group. She was a selfless servant of God and a loving mother. Surviving are her two daughters, Kathleen (Alex) Dindoff of London, Ontario and Mary (John) Spevak of Fort Wayne; five sons, Michael (Jessica) Ward of Silver Springs, Md., Timothy Ward of Canton, Ga., Kevin (Pattie) Ward of Fort Wayne, Patrick Ward and David Ward, both of Olympia, Wash.; brother, Jim Heinz; sister, Wilma Williams; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul B. Ward. Mass is 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, with visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. Father Joseph Gaughn officiating. Visitation also from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home. Burial in Catholic Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana or Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.
